Glogster en classe

Bonjour mes amis!
Voici le Glogster que nous avons utilisé en classe aujourd’hui pour deviner l’auteur et introduire son livre Le Chandail de hockey.  J’aime beaucoup comment vous avez utilisé les indices que j’avais enfoncés dans le Glogster pour prédire ce qui arrivera dans l’histoire.  N’oubliez pas de montrer la vidéo à vos parents.  Vous pouvez la regarder ensemble.

Parents, today in class I introduced the students to a French Canadian author named Roch Carrier and we read his book Le Chandail de hockey (The Hockey Sweater) together.  To help the students learn more about the author and to help them predict events in the story, I created an online interactive poster in a program called Glogster.  As a class, we looked at the various links, videos and sound clips embedded in the poster, and the students tried to guess what the story was about.

For the parents:
As a class (following the French as a Second Language curriculum) we have been using masculine and feminine adjectives to describe qualities and personality traits of special people in our lives.  To provide the students with an example of a special person,  I have attached a link for a short video  called Caillou et son Papa.  In this video, Caillou and his father are making a special gift for Caillou's mother.

As part of our "Ma Famille" unit, we have been investigating different types of housing families live in within our community.  As a class, we are completing an online poll to determine the types of housing our class lives in.  As we are studying graphing in math class (as per the curriculum), we will be using the polled information to create a pictograph.  We have gone over as a class how to complete the poll, but I have also included an instructional video so you can help your child complete the survey in case they forget how.

As a class, we have been compiling a list of our favourite family activities for our "Ma Famille" unit.  Some of the students mentioned that they enjoyed going on family picnics, so I have attached a Berenstain Bears Pack a Picnic game for the students to play.  To access the game, the students simply need to click on the green word "ici".

Les devoirs pour mardi:
  •   Pratiquer vos mots de vocabulaire.

À répondre:
Pouvez-vous écrire une phrase en utilisant les mots de vocabulaire?

For the parents:
As per the French as a Second Language curriculum, the students have been learning to use and spell new vocabulary words related to the “Ma Famille” unit we have been studying.  To help your child practice his/her vocabulary at home, I have created a short video with voice recordings, labels and images (taken from Microsoft word clip art).

For the parents:
On Monday we will be starting our Social Studies unit entitled “Ma Famille” (My Family).  As per the Ministry of Education Curriculum, we will be exploring family relationships.  We will be discussing different types of family units, special qualities and personality traits that family members have, favourite family activities, and favourite family foods.  During this unit, the children will compile their own family information into a “Family Album” that they will be presenting at our Open House on February 16th, 2012.  The Open House will provide the children with an opportunity to recite short written text using new family vocabulary.
